Welcome — Nau mai, haere mai

Who am I? Where do I belong? — Ko wai au?

Your journey
back to who you are

Whether you know your iwi, hapū, and marae — or whether those connections feel far away — you belong here. Tiaki Whenua is a community-built space where Māori help each other find, record, and strengthen their connections to identity, whakapapa, and whenua.

He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.

What is the greatest thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.
Many people come to us looking for land information — but the deeper journey is one of identity. Every Māori person has an iwi, a hapū, and a marae. Not everyone has Māori land. Tiaki Whenua is built for both — and for everyone in between.
Legacy & Succession — Tuku iho

What we know must
outlast us.

The knowledge you hold about your whakapapa, your land, your stories — it belongs not just to you, but to the generations who come after you. Tiaki Whenua is built with this truth at its heart.

When you register, we ask you to name a Legacy Person — someone who will receive access to everything you've recorded and contributed here, should anything happen to you. It's a simple act. But it means the knowledge you carry doesn't disappear with you.
